LAUS Summer Academy Dubrovnik celebrates this year its fifth anniversary. Though this is seemingly a short period, if we turn backward, we can quote with pride a veritably impressive range of internationally recognized musicians and pedagogues. The seminars at the Laus were thus held by Jorme Panula (conducting), Zakhar Bron, Grigorij Žislin, Leonid Sorokow, Marina Sorokowa, Goran Končar and Ivančica Kalanj (violin), Stephen Kovacevich, Arbo Valdma, Jean-Francois Antonioli, Karl-Heinz Kämerling, Eugen Indjic, Antonio Di Christofano and Peter Eicher (piano), Marjana Lipovšek and Alfred Burgstaller (solo singing), David Grigorijan (violoncello) and Radovan Vlatković (horn). This year we are going to organize for the first time a workshop for builders and restorers of string instruments under the leadership of professor Muneyuki Nakazawe.
The pedagogical elite of this profile inspired the really best young musicians to come and stay in Dubrovnik, and they inspired us to learn about the world music future: when we look at the winners of the greatest world competitions in the past year, then the attenders of LAUS Summer Academy are regularly to be found in the highest places. What we can point out with greatest pleasure is the fact that among them there are several young Croatian musicians. This makes us believe that we have chosen the correct manner that will enable us to help the young on their artistic way.
